DAY # 25

MINDFUL EATING OUT.

CHALLENGE BREAKDOWN

Today I will utilize as many of the mindful eating skills that I have learned during the challenge while dining out.

Even if you go out for Starbucks, practice your mindful eating skills.  If you don’t eat out today then practice one of the skills that you struggle with and revisit this one the next time you dine out.

In my experience, this is very challenging when you’re new to mindful eating because of all the distractions and stimulus.  Pay attention to how you are feeling, rate your hunger level before eating, slow down, chew your food well, check in with your breath, and just do the best job you can.  Then assess how well you did and rate yourself on a scale of 1-10, remember NO judgment.  Make sure to consider and be curious about the areas that you still need to place some thought and emphasis on.  Keep reminding yourself to delete judgment and observe how dining out and practicing your mindful eating skills differs from eating at home or where you normally dine.  With practice and patience, you can still dine out and have a very enjoyable AND mindful experience!

Assess your commitment level and observe where you are today, on day 25, compared to where you were on day one. If you are not where you want to be then you still have the opportunity to reengage and refine this important mindful eating skill. Make sure to have fun while doing it!

Mindful eating is about awareness. When you eat mindfully, you slow down, pay attention to the food you’re eating, and savor every bite!
